On the eve of the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Day, the Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya held the event titled “25 anys del Programa de cribratge de càncer colorectal a Catalunya: situació i reptes,” an event where various professionals involved in the Program for the Early Prevention of colorectal cancer reviewed the 25-year history of the screening program and discussed future challenges. The FECEC Junts contra el Càncer participated to present the perspective of patient organizations.
In the segment for the organizations, Neus Cols, a member of the Board of Directors of the FECEC Junts contra el Càncer and president of the Associació Catalana d’Ostomitzats (ACO), and Pau Berber, from the Associació Contra el Càncer a Barcelona, spoke about the program from the patient’s perspective and emphasized the need for greater transparency in the data, the urgent need to increase participation, and the extension of the program up to age 74, instead of the current limit of 69.

The closing remarks were also delivered by representatives of patient organizations, M. Assumpció Vilà, president of the FECEC, and Laureano Molins, president of the ACC. Both committed to continuing their work and supporting the administrations and professionals involved in the program. The event was concluded by Dr. Josep Maria Borràs, director of the Pla director d’oncologia, who thanked the participants for their contributions to this necessary event.
